One of my greatest favorites of reggaesingers, Fantan Mojah passes a quick trip through parts of Scandinavia on his europe tour, and this is, as far as I know the first time he's coming to this area. Together with him as support is I-Wayne. Stockholm is the first one's out to see him, tuesday 28. february they will be live on stage at Göta Källare and warmup by Safari Sound, DJ Ashman and DJ Flash.
On the day after, wednesday 29. february Vikings Champion Sound has booked them to John Dee in Oslo, and they are also the ones who will stand for the warmup. Do remember these dates and make sure to catch this reggaeconcert!

Nico D's long awaited debut (as solo) album "Coming in from the Cold" JUST released digitally and will be available in stores from 02.03.2012 - The first single called Soul Searching is already playlisted on national Norwegian radio and Nico D is a highly talented and appreciated artist among all who's familiar with him.
Another single "Star" was also welcomed and very popular on norwegian radio in 2011, and his collaboration with Jah Mason (JAM) entitled "Ruff Times" went all the way to #1 on the national chartlists in Jamaica in 2010.
The 29 year old singer's got help from some of Jamaica's and Europe's finest producerst, muscicians and artists for this debut album, and "Coming in from the Cold" is said to be sure to set a new standard when it comes to modern Scandinavian reggaereleases. Its an uplifting, inspiring album with deep and honest songs, filled with sincerity and hope.
Release party for Nico D and "Coming in from the Cold" is in Oslo this friday the 24th feb, and together with him for the night are artists like Admiral P, Jaa9 & Onkl P, Herreløse, Sisi and more @ John Dee.

Sir David Rodigan, the 60 year old English man with more knowledge about jamaican reggae history than many jamaicans themselves. He has been awarded the honour for his services to broadcasting reggaemusic in the UK and worldwide. He began his UK radio career back in 1978 and is still going strong, introducing generations of reggae fans to the newest sounds from Jamaica.
Rodigan believes that his recent recognition in the Queen’s New Year Honors List is an “honour” for reggae music.

The respected DJ, who has broadcast his reggae show on radio station Kiss for over 30 years, was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for his services to broadcasting. This is the 4th greatest honour of UK and the British Empire.
"I'm humbled and at the same time honoured that I was seen fit to receive such an award. I think more than anything, its a recognition for the music that we all love, because lets face it, thats what I've been broadcasting for over 30 years. My love has always been reggae music and I see this honour as an honour for our music. I'm delighted that our music has been recognized in this way!” Rodigan told The Voice.

For more 30 years David Rodigan has been the top dog in the ganja-scented, bass heavy-atmosphere of Britain’s reggae dance-halls. The key to his success has been an unsinkable passion for reggae music and his encyclopaedic knowledge of jamaican music and artist history. He's been hosting weekly radioshows on Brittain's biggest radiochannels since 1978 and is a legend worldwide for his crowd-pleasing being and wicked dubplates other djs can only dream about. A MUST-SEE for all reggaefans, and generally all music interested people.

First of all - the site will be more or less down for maintenance in january. After two years with the same design Im upgrading both design and servers to make the site easier to go through and to find exactly what you came here looking for. ScandiDancehall has grown enormously the last year and we have become the #1 Dancehall and reggaesite for the northern countries with thousands of visitors and supporters every week. My goal with making this site was to increase the interest around the reggae and dancehallculture in Scandinavia, and my work is not done yet!
For 2k12 Im hoping for more collaborations between the different countries, as Im a living witness that we have things to learn from eachother - whether being a promoter, soundboy, fan, skanker, dancer or artist. For example I can say that Sweden and Finland got the dancing on lock, and Denmark got the supportive artist and soundboy culture. If a yute wanna test the mic, he can do it with full support from the rest of the massive and all kind of people supports the reggaescene.
The dancehall and reggaeculture in our countries are still far behind from rest of europe, and one of the reasons may be that most people want to do things their own way without any outer suggestions or inspiration - and my point is we need to take inspiration and learnings from eachother to be able to inspirate more people with the culture and get a more successfull scene with more concerts and hype.
Second, and this is an important message: Im a huge supporter of all Scandinavian sounds and artists, and on ScandiDancehall we have a small directory with sound and artist info for promotion and remembrance among other soundculture interested people, and for the local fans who wants to keep up with 'their' soundsystem's events. Im not psychic so I dont know the history to all of you, and encourages all soundboys and artists to email YOUR presentation, info and picture so we can get you in our database!
Also - fans, promoters and soundboys send in your gigs and happenings so we can collect as many events as possible each month. Preferably before the 1st in each month, so that people from perhaps other cities or countries can plan a trip. Videos, tunes and mixtapes will be promoted as well so put our email in your favorite contacts; scandidancehall@hotmail.com

Erik of Fast Forward Sound put together this tribute mix to producer, manager and respected icon Fattis Burrell who passed away 3rd december 2011 after a short coma which he never recovered from.
"A tribute to the great Fattis Burrell who just passed away. Some of my favourite tracks from 1980s - 2000s. All from vinyl except the Super Cat-track (anyone who has a copy?) and the Turbulence dubplate. It´s hard to choose from the big amount of killers he has produced, and these are just some personal favourites. The mixtape is already too long, but still I felt like adding at least 20 more tracks - from Sizzla alone. RIP Fattis.

"Born in the Trench Town area of western Kingston, Burrell was raised in England but returned to Jamaica as a teenager. His production career commenced with (the late) singer Sugar Minott's 1984 single "More Dogs To The Bone", which Burrell released on his own Kings & Lions label. Two years later Burrell created the Vena imprint, releasing early works by (then) upcoming singers including Sanchez, Pinchers and Thriller U, and established acts such as Frankie Paul, Gregory Isaacs and sing-jay Charlie Chaplin. Burrell founded Exterminator (later Xterminator) in 1989 and released some of the biggest singles in Jamaica throughout the 1990s by Beres Hammond, Ninjaman, Ini Kamoze and Cocoa Tea among others.
In 1994 Burrell signed on as the manager and the primary producer for Luciano. The singer credits Burrell with encouraging him to write "songs that would be in the interest of humanity", a lyrical approach that has come to define the contemporary roots vocalist's extensive catalogue. Fattis produced Luciano's breakthrough album "Where There Is Life", released in 1995 on Chris Blackwell's short-lived Island Jamaica imprint, which was a widespread critical success. Fattis also helmed the production on Luciano's 1997 album "Messenger" which furthered the singer's enthusiastic international fan base; the two parted ways in 1999.
Fattis' productions, utilizing rock solid roots-reggae rhythms created by his house band, The Firehouse Crew, comprised of several of Kingston's best musicians sparked a roots reggae revival within Jamaica during the digital dancehall-reggae dominated 1990s.
Throughout the '00s Burrell continued to produce various albums and numerous singles for a new generation of cultural Rastafarian sing-jays including Turbulence, Lutan Fyah. Jesse Royal and Chezidek. In a Facebook posting yesterday, Chezidek referred to Burrell as "a father to I and to most culture artists in Jamaica; him push reggae and stand up for roots and culture and Rastafari music to the fullest".
In August 2011 Xterminator released two popular reggae rhythm tracks "Danger In Your Face" and "Long Day Short Night" with an especially strong turn from Sizzla on the latter, his hit single "Burn Dem Schism" co-produced by Burrell's son Kareem." - By Patricia Meschino

Raggabalder Riddim Rebels, founded in 2001 after the longing for real and hardcore dancehall in Norway. The sound containing of the three members Joddski, Jan Steigen and Selecta Drahpaa is a true pioneer in the norwegian dancehallscene and after a 2yr break to focus on other music projects, they come back as a soundsystem stronger and heavier than ever!
They been playing hundreds of gigs, been touring all over Europe, been warming up for and brought big international artists over to Norway, has plenty of wicked original dubplates(old, new and BRAND new!) that others can dream of, released numerous of mixtapes and even got the title of Oslo's Best Club in 2004.
20.01.2012 is a date for all dancehallfans to be ready and on place! The night will be legendary and its all going down at Blå in Oslo.
