Jah Turban is one of the many talented conscious roots reggae sing jay artists hailing from the Spanish Town area in Jamaica, now living in Denmark. He recieved his musical calling at an early age and took his musical talent to another level when he arrived in Denmark in 2005 recording with SJP Records(Sky Juice Promotions) and he has been touring in countries like Sweden, Hungary, Italy, France, Gambia and Ghana.

His first EP "Africa Is Our Home" was released in 2010, and in the meanwhile to his newest 2013 EP "Move Vampire" that you can check below he has dropped a lot of singlereleases as well.

Like to dance? Curious? Love it? Take a class in dancehall! DancehallScandinavia.com presents the list of dancehall classes, camps and schools in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland summer 2013.

Since the inception of dancehall music in the 1980s, there has been a lot of creative dance moves developed within the culture, some times accompanied by a song with the same name or mentioning the name of the step, so either if you're a clubber, like the music, or fan of dancing - dancehall classes is a fun and recommened thing to do and will give you a better insight in the culture of dancehall. The other way around, to be in the bashment experiencing the soundsystems, mc's, massive and vibes is important likewise.
The classes below are open for everyone (unless other is stated) so we encourrage all our readers to sign up on their local workshop!

Meta & The Cornerstones | Senegal "Future of Reggae" in Oslo & Trondheim 24th-25th may

Meta Dia is born and raised in Senegal and is the first african reggaeartist being signed to VP Records.

Meta with band The Cornerstones released first album in 2008 named "Forward Music" and the latest album "Ancient Power" dropped april 30th, 2013 - and included guestartists as Damian Marley and Capleton.

The musicians all together channels the roots of reggae while simultaneously breathing new life into the genre, creating what critics have called a “soul-pounding spiritual experience” during their live performances. Inspired by Alpha Blondy and Lucky Dubee, they have shared the stage with reggae stars like Luciano, Steel Pulse, Clinton Fearon, Israel Vibration, and Tanya Stephens. In 2007, the band was personally invited by Senegalese-born international superstar Youssou N’Dour to perform at his annual African Ball concert at the Nokia Theater in New York. Clive Chin, the Jamaican producer for The Wailers, Dennis Brown and Lee Scratch Perry states that "Meta and The Cornerstones Band have taken us back to the foundation of reggae music" and also called them the Future of Reggae. Upcoming weekend they will play two exclusive concerts in Scandinavia, Norway and its highly recommended for all reggaelovers to be there!

Today there is not many conscious lyricist on the music scene, both when it comes to the new generation from Jamaica, and worldwide popular music. Kabaka Pyramid and Protoje is two of the youths who definatly got their heart and soul in the right place and belongs to the new generation of righteous soldiers together with other artists such as Chronixx and J.O.E (RIP)
(If you listen closely you will hear a short sample of J.O.E's "Rasta Chant" intro in the Kabaka/Protoje video).

Raggabalder first gained notoriety when Norwegian Hiphop pioneers Joddski and Steezy started their seminal Ramsalt Ragga and Hoya Kadoy-nights at legendary Oslo club Living Room in 2001.

Oslo at the time was devoid of dancehall nights and the northern posse introduced Oslos nightlife to modern dancehall, mixing
it up with crunk, hiphop, foundation and whatever they fancied at the moment.
Raggabalder also brought most of Scandinavias heavyweights to town during this era, resulting in an award for Oslo Best Club in 2004. When The Smoke Clears reflects this era. Not necessarily the best or most famous tunes of the era, but Raggabalders personal favourites, as selected by Joddski.

Snoop Lion is out with his "Reincarnated" album | Movienight showing his documentary 'Reincarnated' with giveaways from Sony Music + afterparty in Oslo tuesday april 30th

In 2012 the "Gin & Juice" rapper Snoop Dogg announced his alias change to Snoop Lion. He said the change came of a wanting to fresh again as he converted to become a rastafarian and that his future music would be inspired by the culture, he even referred to himself as the reincarnation of Bob Marley.

The stunt made alot attention worldwide and Snoop even got in trouble and hospitalized after being beaten up by a gang of older rastafarians in Jamaica, which I personally "understand" but dont think is right at all cause noone can actually claim they know what he feels or dont feel in his heart and soul but himself and the God. However, the Major Lazer produced debut album of Snoop Lion is now out! "Reincarnated" features artists like Angela Hunte, Mr. Vegas, Mavado, Miley Cyrus, Jahdan Blakkamore, Collie Buddz, Popcaan and Drake. He has also made a movie with the same title as album "Reincarnated" about his travels to Jamaica blending himself in Rastafarian culture and which covers his work and production on his first reggaerecord..

Selecta Dread Lion keeps is real with no laptop, no reggaeton, no pop mixes and no soca, strictly vinyl reggae and dancehall. His flavor is the roots and rockers style from the 70's to the early 80's dancehall. He started his first reggaeclub once a month in 2003 where he was resident dj for three years. In 2006 he started his first soundsystem "Tulimeloni Sound" and together they have played all around Finland on numerous of clubs, also with his now soundsystem "Laavameloni Sound" which he runs together with Selector Gismo known from Bomfunk MC's.
